Two Become One is actually an allusion to my usual writing process: I often leave my phone recorder on while I’m improvising and go back later to see if there are any nuggets worth revisiting and possibly developing into a complete tune. For this particular piece, I fused together two ideas from separate sessions into a single composition, with the first being a repeated melody with some variations (a la Wayne Shorter’s Nefertiti) and the second opening up for improvisation over some vamps
